Makeup Wishlist

There are a few things I'd love to add to my makeup collection once I procure a job. I've listed them below with reasons why and some pictures. I only have three lip colour options in my makeup kit right now, so I've focused on the need for more lipsticks and glosses in particular.

1. Portland Black Lipstick Company: Bear with me here, okay? I know it's a pretty out there colour. But I love black, and I love avant garde fashion.  Plus Stella Rose Saint Clair gives a very positive review of this particular lipstick in her post on black lipsticks here. It's probably not something I would wear to a job (except Hot Topic) but it could be fun at parties and events if you wanted to make a statement.

2. NYX Macaron Lippies in any colour: More unusual colours, I know. What can I say? These lipsticks are very playful, bright colours - and there's even a black. My favourites are Blue Velvet, Key Lime, and Rose, the Powerpuff Girl trio. Judging from the various reviews of these, they are creamy and give a good solid colour. On the NYX site, many of the colours are sold out; fortunately, they are also available for the same price at Ulta.

3. Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom or Rose: Who hasn't heard of Burt's Bees Lip Balm? These seem good for those days when you just don't feel like putting on a bunch of makeup. I would love one because I have very dry lips, and I live in a desert climate, so I need all the moisture I can get. These also have very good reviews.

4. L'Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable Compact Makeup in Porcelain and Nude Beige: I already use this in Soft Ivory as foundation and I'm very happy with it. I would like some lighter and darker shades for highlighting and contouring.

5. NYX Blusher in Pinky: Another from NYX, a company which I've heard so many good things about. Pinky is a very cute, bubblegum pink shade that I'd love to have for summer.

Graduation!

So guess who just graduated high school? Yup, I did! It was tough at times but I finally made it.

It was pretty cold out there on the football field, but listening to the speeches was nice. The highlight was probably the student president saying "three point hoe" rather than "three point O" as in GPA. Later our principal called us three point hoes as well.

After graduation, there was a big party inside the school that lasted til 5 am! There was an abundance of food and games where you could win fake money which could then be exchanged for raffle tickets and prizes.

I didn't win anything from the raffles, but thanks to playing lots of bingo, I purchased a bed set.

I had lots of fun, and although I have to look for a job now, I'm relieved, and more than that, proud of myself for making it.

Julep Maven April "It Girl" Box Pictures and Review

I recently received a Welcome Box from Julep Maven - a box worth $20, free with $3 shipping! Quite a deal. And I was even more impressed with the value of the products themselves.

The presentation of the box is simple and fun.

Inside the box is a couple of small orange nail buffers, which was a nice touch.

The three nail polishes for this box are packaged very neatly and professionally.

Now, I guess one of the colours listed in the description for the box on the site was unavailable when they were putting together this box, because the blue is not the blue shown on the site's listing. I don't particularly mind either way, though, because the quality is so high for the amount I paid.

The colours from left to right are Margaret, Flora, and Maren.

Margaret is described as "Light periwinkle creme", Flora as "Exotic dragon fruit with blue iridescent shimmer", and Maren as "Electric bubblegum sheer with blue sheen".

As described, Margaret has a nice creamy texture and is very opaque. In contrast, Flora is thinner, and Maren is very sheer and soupy, as well as shinier, as you can see in the pictures below.

Overall, my impression is very positive. I give Julep Maven a 10 out of 10 and plan to purchase more from them if possible in the future.

If you are considering purchasing something from Julep Maven, just go here.

Introduction

Hello. My name is Vivid and this is a new makeup, fashion, and giveaways blog.

I'm kind of an amateur when I comes to makeup, but I'm very enthusiastic. I will be posting reviews of makeup and nail polish, speculation about new releases, wishlists, and giveaways you should check out.
